Almie Thornton married first to George Ayers in 1865 and he died the following year. Almie married George's brother, John Ayers on February 1, 1870 in Necedah, Wisconsin. Almie Thornton ran a hat store in Creighton. She had two children Niles Fred Ayers born 1884 and Abigail Ella (Nellie) Ayers Baker born 1871.
