DEATH OF AN OLD RESIDENT
We are called upon with sincere regret to chronicle the sudden death of an old and respected citizen, MR. JACOB ADAMS, which occurred on Wednesday evening of last week
about 5:30 p.m., at his residence on Church street, of heart disease, aged about 64 years. Just after eating a hearty supper Mr. Adams walked to the rear of his lot and there was overcome by vertigo, being led into the house, by a little boy who happened to be on the scene, and was seated on a sofa, saying but a few words, when he passed away peacefully without the slightest exertion of a struggle.

He was born in the year 1817 on the Samuel Frantz farm West of this place, and after reaching manhood moved to Mercersburg where be resided for some years, and from there moved to Waynesboro in the year 1852, where he has since made his home, engaging in carriage making, until about a year previous to his death, in which business he proved a
fine and skilled workman for 39 years.

He leaves a devoted wife and four children, Susan E. Newman, Annie M. Knight, of Chambersburg, Ella M. and Chas. Adams, to mourn the loss of their loved one, to whom is extended the condolence of a sympathetic people.

Funeral took place on Saturday last, at 10 o'clock, services being held in the Brethren Church at this place, after which the remains were interred in Price's burial ground.
