Jacob Simmons, last Friday, had a severe stroke of appoplexy early in the morning, which entirely palayzed the whole of his right side. It is thought he will not recover. He is a man of over 76 years; has been a good citizen of this place for 39 years; has raised a family of boys of which five were as good soldiers as went in the Union army, two where killed. John was sheriff of Sullivan Co. He is now in the far west somewhere. Davis and young Jacob are in Iowa, Cherokee County, Iowa wealthy farmers. George and Thomas are here and are good citizens - doing well.
