Known as "Aunt Frank"
Eldest daughter of Frank S Luther and Irene Whitaker or TN. Frank was her given name, I think her middle name was Whitaker. Born in TN, her father died of TB when she was 16 years of age. She graduated from the Chattanooga School of Music, Chattanooga, TN.
In 1917 her brother Oliver joined the Army and moved to El Paso, TX (Fort Bliss). Mother Irene, Frank and Sarah joined him in 1919. Frank was a pianist and organist, and accompanist to Elizabeth Garrett, the blind, talented daughter of Pat Garrett, who shot Billy the Kid in Fort Sumner, NM in 1881. In an article, Frank said, "I was accompanying a singer on the piano in a MacDowell Club program. Elizabeth (Garrett) had opened a voice studio here in the early 20s and was interested in an accompanist. We were introduced and that was the beginning of a close friendship and working relationship. I made a concert tour with her in New Mexico."
In 1934, Frank married Norman Blower in El Paso, TX. After Norman's death, she lived with her nephew, Frank Luther & his family.
