Charlie Francolini entered into rest on Friday, January 30, 2009, surrounded by his loving family at the Martha Jefferson Hospital.

Born in Brooklyn on February 1, 1927, he was preceded in death by his parents, Sarah Clark Francolini and Charles Alfred Francolini, and his brother Richard Francolini.

He is survived by his brother, Eugene and his wife, Theresa, of Hampton Bays, New York; and sister-in-law, Kathy of New York City.

He leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted wife of 54 years, Jean; a daughter, Patricia Rowe and her husband, Glenn, of Keswick, Virginia; a son, Charles William Francolini and his wife, Norie, of Tokyo, Japan; a daughter, Susan Jordon and her husband, Kurt, of Barboursville, Virginia; a daughter, Lisa Loudermilk and her husband, Jeff, of Glen Allen, Virginia. He is also survived by his much loved grandchildren, Colin Rowe, Sierra, Anthony and William Loudermilk and Rina and Ralph Francolini.

Charlie graduated from Sewanhaka High School in Floral Park, New York. After serving his country in the Navy he returned home to attend Hobart College and graduated from Adelphi College. While attending college he played both football and lacrosse.

Charlie was the owner of LIDECO Trucking Company in Farmingdale, Long Island until 1977, when he moved his family to a farm in North Garden to be a cattleman. Soon afterwards he moved to Farmington Heights and began his second career as a restaurateur opening South Street Restaurant.

Charlie was a member of the New York Athletic Club, Nassau Country Club, Glen Cove Long Island, Farmington Country Club, Charlottesville, Glenmore Country Club, Keswick. It was in these arenas where Charlie enjoyed and excelled in squash, golf and cards.

Throughout his life he loved the outdoors. He was an accomplished fisherman and hunter, a serious gardener and a fine woodworker.

A memorial service was conducted Monday, February 2, 2009, at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Charlottesville, Virginia.
