In James McClelland's will/estate papers, one of his heirs (named Elizabeth Gillespie) and a Robert M. Gillespie signed a document confirming what she had received from the estate. One could assume this Robert M. Gillespie was her husband, and since she was an heir, that James McClelland was her father. There are ties between the McClellan and Gillespie families: Robert Moore Gillespie's mother was Mary (Moore) Gillespie. Her sister, Martha (Moore) Adams had a son, Robert Franklin Adams, who married Margaret McClelland - who was another daughter of James McClelland.
The date of birth that is listed for Elizabeth on the newer granite marker has not been verified. I have listed it since it is on the marker, but I have found other records indicating that her date of birth may be closer to 1801.
