Rosanna (sometimes spelled Roenna) Pershing (sometimes spelled Pferching) was the daughter of Frederick Pershing, b. 1724 in Alsace-Lorain, France, and Elizabeth Weygandt.
Frederick immigrated in 1749 on the ship Jacob. The Pennsylvania Gazette reported on October 5, 1749, ship Jacob passengers took the Oath of Allegiance on the 2nd of October. Frederick was a redemptioner, who worked after he arrived in America to reimburse the fee paid for his journey. On the 29th of April 1750 (some records state 20 Apr 1750), Frederick married Maria Elizabeth Weygandt. She may have arrived in America in 1749 as well. Frederick Pershing died in 1794 in the vicinity of Latrobe, Unity Twp., Westmoreland Co., PA.

In 1768 Frederick took up a "Tomahawk possession" near Latrobe, PA, before Hannastown became the first county seat west of the Allegheny mountains (see American Archives, 4th Series, Vol II, page 616 - Also patent book 17 page 107). He received letters patent for his "Tomahawk possession" at the expiration of the 21 years required to live thereon Sept. 2nd 1789, called Coventry, 269 acres more or less; he was a private five years in the "Frontier Rangers and Indian Wars". - from Sons of the American Revolution Application
