He was captured at Cumberland Gap on 9 Sep 1863, sent to Camp Douglas POW Camp in Chicago, IL, and died there from "Inflammation of the Brain" on 12 Sep 1864. He enlisted on 7 May 1862.
He was married to Martha Jane McGraw on 10 Oct 1850 in Greene County, Georgia.
They had five children: Rutha Ann Hunnicutt Etheridge, Edmund Silvannie "Bud" Hunnicutt, Sarah Jane Hunnicutt Pierce, Benjamin Calvin Hunnicutt, and James Matthew Hunnicutt (b. 1862).
His parents may have been Edmund C Hunnicutt (1800-1874) and Meda or Medea Martin (1809-1870).
