Mary was the daughter of Prescott Young and Lucy Jane Eastman. She married Henry Ash in 1865. The were the parents of Eugene, Seth, Roy, and Mable Alice. She married 2nd Reuben M. Ash on 30 June 1883 in Buena Vista co, Iowa. They were the parents of Grace.


November 21, 1888 - Storm Lake Pilot - Mary Alice Young was born at Sugar Hill, New Hampshire, June 3rd, 1844 and died at Storm Lake, Nov. 19, 1888, after a long and tedious sickness.

She was converted early in life and united with the Free Will Baptist church when about fourteen years of age. She was married to Henry C Ash, February 13th, 1866; four children blessed this union: Eugene, Seth, Roy, and Mable.

In 1870 she moved to Grinnell, Iowa, two years later to Sac county and in 1870 to the farm a mile west of Storm Lake, where she lived until her death. Here she was bereaved of her youngest son in 1878 and her husband in 1882.

In June, l883, she was married to R.M. Ash; one child, Grace, has blessed this union; thus she leaves behind a husband, two sons and two daughters.

Her life was a constant walk with Jesus and she bore the constant suffering of two years with cheerfulness and with her faith in God increasing day by day. The funeral occurred from the M.E. church this forenoon at 10:30, conducted by Rev. Dudley, her pastor.
