Mitchell DePriest was born on March 1, 1928 in Eufaula, Oklahoma to Ruford DePriest & Anna (Blackwell) DePriest. He passed from this life on June 5, 2009 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 81 years, 3 months & 4 days.

Mitchell had been a resident of the Bixby area since 1959. He was proud to have served his country as a member of the United States Army. He retired after working more than 30 years as the Stationary Engineer for St. John Hospital. He was an active and devoted member of the South Heights Assembly of God Church and would preach when called upon and even delivered a sermonette very recently at a family reunion. Among many other things, he will be remembered by his family as a master mechanic and for his loves of horses, tractors and going to auctions and garage sales.

He is survived by his loving wife of almost 60 years, Verda B. (Dotson) DePriest, whom he married on November 23, 1949 in Muskogee, OK. He is also survived by 2 sons; Michael DePriest and wife Shelly, of Glenpool & Darryl DePriest and wife Hope, of Muskogee, 2 daughters; Linda McGuire and husband Mike, of Sapulpa & Brenda Piles and husband Dale, of Chesterfield, MO, 4 sisters; Billie Sue Barnett of Tulsa, Betty Chapman of Tulsa, Virginia Morgan of Burbank, CA & Lowetta Samuels of Glenpool, 8 grandchildren; Josh, Sheena, Tyler, Megan, Aaron, Elizabeth, Jason & Jessica, 1 great-granddaughter; Ariana and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers; James, Ray & Othal DePriest and 2 sisters; Geneva Logsdon & Barbara Witt.

Casket bearers are Travis O'Neal, Terry DePriest, John Kafer, Darin Samuels, Dwain Samuels & Stony Samuels. Music to be provided by Mike McGuire & Chad DeGonia.
