Nicholas Hamilton, a lad of 17, who had pleaded guilty to the charge of grand larceny before Judge Wallace, came up for sentence yesterday. He wanted to withdraw his former plea and in making his application he told how he had been left to shift for himself almost from his infancy. His parents died while he was young and the crime for which he stood charged-- stealing a gold watch and chain-- was as much the result of his training and environment as of any tendency to criminality on his part.

Judge Wallace thought the prisoner more of a subject for a reformatory than a penitentiary, and so postponed sentence to have the case more fully looked up. The boy is quit willing to go to the reformatory, for he says he can learn a trade there." *Source-The Morning Call, March 2, 1895, Page 5
