DEATH NOTICE: John Aitken's little girl died on Tuesday of last week of diphtheria.

fa John Aitken
mo Sarah Margaret McCrea

I think the information on her New headstone may be wrong. the note below shows she was a child of John in 1883.

The death notice states the cause of death was diphtheria, I do not see that a one day old could be diagnosed with it.

Jannett and John are shown as being born one month apart, Johns birth date is shown as Oct 1886 in the 1900 Census

1885 Kansas State Census lists her age as 4 years old.

BIOGRAPHICAL ITEMS: "JOHN AITKEN, farmer and stock-raiser, P.O. Winchester, is a native of England and was born in Berwickshire, February 28, 1848. Came to the United States in 1860, and to Kansas in 1875. He has since been engaged in agricultural pursuits. Previous to coming to Kansas was a resident of Washington County, Iowa, where he was married to Miss Sarah M. McCrea. They have three children, Annie, William and Jennett." (A.T. Andrea's History of Kansas, originally published in 1883.)
