A homemaker and a resident of Bayou Pigeon, she died Wednesday, June 10, 2009, at her home surrounded by her family. She was 67 and a native of Plaquemine. Visiting at Wilbert Funeral Home in Plaquemine on Thursday, June 11, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visiting resumes at the funeral home on Friday, June 12, from 8 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Plaquemine, at 10 a.m. Friday, with the Rev. Cleo Milano, celebrant. Interment in Grace Memorial Park. Survived by her husband, Cecil Joseph Slayton Jr.; three daughters, Sheila O. Ritter, Rhonda S. and husband Blaine D. Simoneaux, and Jessica S. and husband Johnny P. Short; a son, Robert J. Slayton and wife Shannon A.; a sister, Patricia O. Varnell; nine grandchildren, Jeremy, Justin, Jared, Blain, Taylor, Dwayne, Seth, Lauren and Jacob; and three great-grandchildren, Kody, Blaise and Chelsey. Preceded in death by her parents, Levansky J. Orillion and Juanita Achee Orillion Loup; sister, Lydia "Red" Orillion; brother, Larry J. Orillion; and stepfather, Laurent "Boot" Loup.
