James R. Banks of Bedford, IN, died Sunday, December 1, 2002, at the Bedford Regional Medical Center. Born on October 7, 1938, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of Frank Webster and Lorene (Greer) Banks. He married LaVonda Tackett in 1957, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are four daughters: Teresa Lewis, Lisa Couch, Tracy Owens, and Linda Roll, all of Bedford, IN; one son, Jimmy Banks of Bedford, IN; five brothers: Mack Banks, Franklin (Hank) Banks, John Banks, and Chester Banks of Lawrence County, IN, and Roger (Tiny) Banks of Washington, IN; one sister, Wanda Jackson of Bloomington, IN; seven grandchildren, and several nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Bill Banks; two brothers in infancy and one sister in infancy.

He was the owner and operator of Banks Heating and Cooling in Lawrence County and was a U.S. Navy veteran.

Services for James Banks will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 4th, at the Day & Carter Mortuary with Bro. Perry East officiating. Burial will follow in the Springville West Cemetery.
