Milton Allen Irwin, 80, of 19 N. Kansas, Chanute, Kansas, died Saturday, January 7, 1961, at 10:15 at the Neosho Memorial Hospital, Chanute, Kansas, following an illness of several days.

He was born in Wilson County, Kansas, February 6, 1880, the son of Scott and Mary Jane Irwin.

He moved to Colony, KS about 1900 and started in the merchantile business there.

He married Merta Longstretk on December 25, 1902 at Colony, Kansas.

They lived in Colony and in Chanute and operated the store at Lafayette and Main, now occupied by B & H Grocery in Chanute. He retired in 1950.

He was a member of the Methodist Church.

Survivors are his wife, Merta Irwin, of the home; two sons, Glen Irwin, of Wymore, NE, and Lewis Irwin of Kansas City, KS; one daughter, Anna Irwin of Kansas City, KS; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lewis P. Irwin, of Los Angeles, CA, and F.W. Irwin of Mission, KS.

One son, Clarie, preceded him in death in 1943.

The funeral service will be Tuesday at the Roy S. Gibson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Charles Wesley Garrett officiating. Burial will be in Colony Cemetery, Colony, Kansas.
