Vital records of Phillipston to 1850 states John Baker, s. Charles and Anna, was born April 1, 1809. But if he was 22 years old, like his gravestone says, he should have been born in 1801. If one looks at the original birth record, which lists John's birth and all his siblings, there's a good argument that his birth year was 1801 (albeit sloppy) not 1809. The town clerk made their 9's like an upside down 6 with a curve. If it was a 9 it was totally unlike all the other nines written for his sibling's birth years.
