Augusta Christina Grenz was born February 8, 1881, in Angerburg, Germany. She married Johannes Karl Hans Lowin on July 16, 1899, in East Prussia, Germany. They were the parents of six children while living in Germany, Anna, Adolph, John, Bertha, Louise and Otto Lowin. Daughter Anna died in Germany.
The Lowin family immigrated to the United States abroad the ship Cincinnati, arriving in New York on October 25, 1909. They traveled to Bloomfield, where they were sponsored by the John Grohmann family. Six children were born in Nebraska, Henry, Helen, Ella, George, Raymond and Hilda Lowin. Johannes used the name Hans during his lifetime.
The family lived in Bloomfield, where Hans worked for Julius Stahl. In the spring of 1910, the family moved to a farm northeast of Bloomfield. In 1926, the family moved to a farm seven miles east of Bloomfield and in 1943, they retired and moved to Bloomfield.
Surviving are her husband, Hans; five daughters, Bertha Repp of El Cajon, CA, Louise Simpson of San Clemente, CA, Helen (Vaughn) Hadley, Ella (Basil) Battern and Hilda (Harvey) Wendt; and six sons, Adolph (Elizabeth) Lowin, John (Dorothy) Lowin, Otto (Helen) Lowin, Henry (Lucille) Lowin, George Lowin and Raymond (Lucille) Lowin.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Anna Lowin, in Germany.
