Chris Rickett, 53, of Marshalltown, died early Thursday morning, June 4th, at the MMSC with his family at his side. His death came peacefully at 3:55 a.m. while in care of the hospital, his loving family and the Iowa River Hospice. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 8th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest in the Riverside Cemetery. Ph 641-844-1234. Born Chris Michael Rickett on August 31, 1955, in Marshalltown, he was the son of Charles Madison and Helen (Hollingsworth) Rickett. He graduated from the Marshalltown High School and was most recently employed with Swifts for four years and previously Keelor Steel for 15 years and KIOWA for seven. He built racecars with his son and could do mechanics and building since he was a kid. He enjoyed racing at Pine Lake since a teenager and watching NASCAR. Left to cherish his memory are his three children: Chad (Billie Jo) Rickett of Marshalltown, Melissa (Ben) Olson and Shauntay Rickett all of Gladbrook, grandchildren: Elizabeth, Madison, Chad, Jr., Emalie Rickett and Mercedez Putney, his longtime companion and friend Brenda Reese of Marshalltown and her children: Jason (Abby) Reese of State Center and Justin, Jamie and Jennifer Reese all of Marshalltown, her grandchildren- Parker, Preston and Piercen Reese, a half-sister Ruthann Morey of Racine, WI, an uncle Marvin Rickett in Kansas and nephew Jimmy as well as many friends. In death he has rejoined his parents and half-brother.
