Del was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving during the Korean Conflict from 1950-1954. After his military service he and Beverly moved to Joliet, IL. where he worked as a construction worker his entire life. He retired in 1995 from the Operating Engineers Local 150.

In retirement, Del loved to visit friends at local restaurants each morning to laugh, joke and solve all of the world's problems, at least for the day. He cherished those times and the friends he made at Louis Restaurant and at Bob Evans Restaurant in Joliet. Del's family would like to express their thanks for the kindness and friendship that developed over the years with their good neighbors Pat and Diane Connors; Ed and Carmen Cortez; and also thanks to the friendships that developed with 'Joliet's Finest' Dawn, Jim, Shaun and Phil.
