Curtiss family history is written on many members in Story of Trumbull and Mahoning counties by Williams (H.Z.) & Bro., Cleveland, Ohio, pub date 1882.

According to the history, Lewis was the son of Ethan Curtiss and first wife, Ann(a) SEDGWICK (grave not yet found, died by 1831) moved from CT with his family of two brothers, Giles and Nelson, when he was 3 years old to Brunswick, Medina Co, Ohio. Is mother, Anna, buried there or Farmington? Most of the family history is written under Ethan's grandson, John Nelson, on how the Curtiss' moved with the Dennis Lewis family, Lewis' future wife, who moved to Farmington 1808. Nineteen years later, In 1827, the Curtiss' moved their home to Farmington twsp, Trumbull Co, OH, where they located in the dense woods and there began clearing the land their land and erecting log buildings.

Lewis and Harriet (LEWIS) Curtiss, born respectively 22nd of April, 1805 and 16th of May, 1811

Harriet, daughter of Dennis and Jane (?) LEWIS, were also from CT and both families moved from CT to Brunswick, Medina Co, OH in 1808, the Lewis' moving to Farmington, Harriet was the second white child born there.

Lewis Curtiss and Harriet Lewis were married 2nd of June, 1831 and they then took up their abode on one of his farms in Farmington, for he owned several here and was one of the communities most prominent agriculturist. He was a staunch Republican in his political affiliations and he died on his farm here on 31st of March, 1871 his wife surviving him until 26th of October, 1892.

Lewis' brother Giles will live in Northfield, OH, Nelson will move on to Wisconsin.

the 1882 history states that by the time of it's writing, Miles had died, death would have been after 1850 census, needs research, he is not listed on the war memorial with Judson. Giles not even mentioned but he died age 3 in 1835,

1860 Farmington misnamed as Lewis Lewis is Lewis, Harriet, 6 ch: Miles, Judson, Mary Jane, Harriet Ellen, Alfreda, and Nelson. Judson will die in Civil War 1864.

1870 Farmington is Lewis and Harriett P with 2 ch: Mary Jane & Nelson, with them an 8yo Angie ELY who must be a Lewis relative, (1880, she lives nearby with Edwin Lewis), there is a Lewis neighbor of age to be Harriett's brother with a 3yo Ely child.

Nelson and wife live in Farmington (ch Vinnie and Vernie), nearby is son, Silas and wife live in Farmington (ch: Julia E., Liberta, Delma J., Emma), next to him is dau. Ellen Morrison (ch Norman and Jennie), No Miles is found in Ohio, Alfreda Rinear lives 14 miles north in Hartsgrove, Ashtabula, OH (ch Lewis), husband is Wesley (he and parents born OH) also in Hartsgrove is Martha Cleland married to Scotland born John as were his parents (ch Agnes), Nancy not found.
