Note: The Curtiss's use the name Chauncey a lot, this is a maiden name of one of the ancestor grandmothers.

Curtiss 6 generations () of this line are linked on FAG in order, eldest to youngest are: (1)Wm- (2)John-(3)Thomas-(4)Joseph-(5)Joshua-(6)Ethan-living in New Haven then Hartford Co., CT for 190 years. emigration is as follows:

1540, Harwich, England, (the S.E. port of U.K. which made them a "hearty" transplant to cold, coastal MA and CT) then Nazeing, Essex, England to Scituate/Roxbury, MA where their father, Wm, died, sons John (of this line), Wm, Thomas and sister Elizabeth moved with widow mother to Stratford, CT about 1639. History of Stratford is that brothers Wm and John (of this line) were wealthy men. By 1673, Thomas (of this line), moves newly married to Wallingford, CT abt 1673 where his son, Joseph (of this line) lives and dies (1756), but Joshua (of this line) will move 35 miles north to Burlington, Hartford Co. where his son, Ethan (of this line) lives much of his life(1815) at Burlington, although serving Revolution War, marrying and living 30 years 9 miles away at Farmington then moving back to Burlington, probably to inherit father's farm, but he dies 2 years after his father. I have read Hartford Co. histories on archive.org which uncles and cousins are written about but not a word about this line. Of this line, the first to leave CT is 7th generation, Chauncey who left CT for Trumbull Co., OH after 1805, when first dau. Miranda, is born IN Conn., - dau. Miranda and son Jerome got married in Trumbull Co., OH - did whole family move there or just them? then son Granderson married in Allen Co, 1839. yet Chauncey had a toddler born/die in Bath, OH. 1813/'15-confusing. more research needed.

Note: In the late 1790's OH was being surveyed, surveyors from CT copied the names of the CT townships in Trumbull Co. Southington, Farmington, Bristol, etc.

Curtiss's starting moving from CT to Ohio after their gUncle Bliss Hart who moved to Brookfield, OH. Supposedly Ethan A and his siblings were all born in Wallingford, CT, of those children, so far found to have also moved to Trumbull Co, Ohio are: Chauncey, Joel, George. Chauncey moved on to Bath, Allen Co, OH, Joel to Parma, OH and George to MI. Chauncey dropped one "s" to change surname to Curtis.

History of Trumbull and Mahoning counties, by Williams (H.Z.) & Bro., Cleveland, Ohio, Publication date 1882, p. 321, states that Ethan A moved away from Burlington, CT, 1808 (after 1st wife died) first to Brunswick, Medina Co, OH for 19 years, then 1827 to Farmington, Trumball Co, OH. His brother Chauncey moved to Farmington area also, and by 1839 moved on to Allen Co., OH.
