see his 6 generation lineage below. This bio is written after a study of the previous generations all listed on findagrave as biographies of Curtiss' in township histories found on archive.org. Of this line, the first to leave CT is 7th generation, Chauncey, whose name is a maternal ancestral surname. His father, Ethan, was born in Burlington, CT where he grew to adulthood then lived in Farmington, CT where he listed his home upon enlistment to Revolution War, married, and had 13 children 1877-1803. Chauncey married July 29,1805 to Elizabeth HART. Previous memorial holder claimed Hart was her middle name and Adams her surname (f. Samuel Adams), yet on her headstone her name is listed Elizabeth Hart and she is "Elizabeth H" on son's marriage record. this needs research. I believe her father is Samuel Hart, FAG # 15118154, of Berlin, CT.

According to son, Leonard, Civil War Registration he was born CT yet dau. Sabra's memorial list her 1818 birth at Ohio Township, Gallia County, Ohio, land purchase records show 1820 Southington, OH.

his brother Ethan moved to Medina Co. 1808 then 1827 to Trumbull Co. OH, several brothers moved to OH,Chauncey's first dau., Miranda, is listed in census several years as born IN Conn., more conflicting information is that there is a Chauncey Curtiss in 1810 Burlington, CT where the Curtisses were from, then 1820-30 in Southington, Trumbull Co, Ohio. he is in census and land tax there. Most of the Curtiss sons changed to Curtis spelling, the only Curtiss in Trumbull Co is Ethan A and his son Lewis,

a toddler born/die in Bath, OH. 1813/'15, is this one of his brothers who move to Bath, Ohio before he does. more research needed.

- dau. Miranda and son Jerome got married 1833 & 1834 respectively in Trumbull Co., OH, then move to Allen Co. OH, son Granderson married Allen Co, 1839.

1835 som Chauncey purchased 40 acres in Waupaukoneta, Allen now Auglaize Co, OH, 20 miles S.W. of Lima, is that his why he moved to Allen Co?

10 children listed as born in Bath, Allen Co, OH, on memorials which is proved wrong in land and census records

1540, Harwich, England, (the S.E. port of U.K. which made them a "hearty" transplant to cold, coastal MA and CT) then Nazeing, Essex, England to Scituate/Roxbury, MA where their father, Wm, died, sons John (of this line), Wm, Thomas moved with widow mother to Stratford, CT about 1639. History of Stratford is that brothers Wm and John (of this line) were wealthy men. By 1673, Thomas (of this line), moves newly married to Wallingford, abt 1673 where his son, Joseph (of this line) lives and dies (1756), but Joshua (of this line) will move 35 miles north to Burlington, Hartford Co. where his son, Ethan (of this line) lives much of his life(1815) at Burlington, although serving Revolution War, marrying and living 30 years 9 miles away at Farmington then moving back to Burlington.
