s/o Chauncey Curtiss and Elizabeth Hart (Adams? surname under research) she is listed in 2 documents as Elizabeth Hart or Elizabeth H. of Hartford Co. CT who married 1805 then moved to Trumbull Co, OH then to Wapaukaneta, Allen Co., OH., Granderson, often Grandison, is a name found in the Curtiss line.

Curtiss history:
As I have researched the Curtiss' in Hartford County histories and biographies, where this line moved about 1750, I never find Chauncey or father Ethan, although from early census, burials, and Wills found, that is the county they live in.

Curtiss brothers marry Robinson sisters: In 1834, Farmington, Trumbull Co., OH, 18yo brother, Jerome Curtiss, marry's 14yo Eunice G. ROBINSON, with parents named in marriage certificate giving consent. five years later, Eunice's younger sister, Ada married brother-in-law, Grandison Curtiss, on January 01, 1839 in Allen Co.,OH, Grandisons father moved to Wapukanetta, oh 1835.

Curtiss brothers: Jerome and Chauncey lived in Van Wert Co then Allen Co., Julius and Leonard lived Putnam Co north of Lima..

married (1)Ada or Adah Elvira ROBINSON on 1 Jan 1839 in Allen Co., OH by Lewis Sroufe, J. P. per History of Allen County, Ohio, pub. Warner, Beers & Co. 1885, he abandoned her and children 1854 to go dig gold in OR, she died 1857, the children lived with relatives.

married (2)Mary J Knight, March 29, 1871 in Union Co, OR, dying 2 years later, no children. his widow remarried 1873 in Union Co, OR to a rancher and moved to MT.

1840 Bath, OH has Granderson age 20-30, male under age 5, female age 25-30, lives next to Chauncey

1850 Washington, Van Wert Co, OH: misnamed Grandison Curtin 33, b. OH, wife Adah E, 29, b. CT, 4 of 5 children named after Curtiss relatives:
Chauncey, 9;
Lucien, 7;
Adah E, 5 (named after mother and grandmother);
Grandison, 2
after this census they have Sophronia Anna, married 12-31-1868 to Benton TRACY in Allen Co. OH, searching for graves,

Granderson ("er") leaves the family in Bath, OH for the OR Goldrush about 1854.Sickly Adah does not have the money to keep her children, moving them to other relatives, she dies by 1857 (sister Eunice does also).

1860 Williams, Josephine Co, OR, west of Medford, widower Grandison (with "i"), b. CT, abandoned his family to live in OR, his children orphaned and living with extended family. working as a merchant -did he own his own store? Granderson writes home for the children to come live with him, but they decide to stay where they have been living.

1870 not yet found in Union Co. but I believe Granderson and his future wife live here because her brother does and her future 2nd husband lives here. No male born 1816-1820 in Josephine Co nor surrounding counties by his name, nor in Union Co. was he missed in census?

1871 Grandison remarried at twsp?, Union Co, OR to Missouri born, Mary J Knight, 23 years his junior, at the home of her brother, Robert Knight 3-29-1871, Union is 540 miles NE from Williamsburgh, near the ID/WA border.. In 1880 her brother lives at Summerville, OR so maybe they were married there Did he die in ID? or OH? She is remarried summer, 1873 to rancher/widower, Richard Fowler, who also had lived at Union Co., and MO so her family must have known his family, they would move to MT and have 4 children over 19 years until her death.
