Pearlean Edwards, also known as "Pearl" and "Ms. Edwards" lived a rich and full life. She was a loving mother to her children Leonard, Carolyn, Linda and Dwayne. She cherished her grandchildren and great grandchildren and was a "play mother" to many.
For many years, Pearlean lived on 151st Street in Compton, California, back in the day before the gangs took over. In those days neighbors were like second parents, and Pearlean was no exception. She babysat for us, cooked for us, fussed at us, taught us and loved us. She was a blessing to all the children and teenagers in the neighborhood.
Later in life, Pearlean worked for the Los Angeles Unified School District, retiring in 1993.
She passed away in 2006 at the age of 77 after a brief illness. She is loved and missed by her family and many, many friends.
