Clifford Charles Geist was the son of Edward Robert Geist and Alice Wade (Jarvis) White - Geist. His parents, Edward and Alice were both widows and married in 1905 in Sterling,Reno County, Kansas. Edward's first marriage was to Mattie Josephine Evans and they had Gracie (Geist) Medsker, Goldie (Geist) Spindle, and Thomas William Geist. Mattie died in 1894 in Sterling, Rice County, Kansas.
Alice Wade Jarvis had been married previously to Charles Fay White and had 9 children (one set of twins Ira and Ora), the children were: Cora born 1887; Fay (son) born 1888; Willis C. born 1890; Russell, born 1892; Ira and Ora born 1895; Nova born 1896; Hazel Emma born 1898; and Charlene born 1902. After Clifford and Alice married in 1905 they had the following children together: Lewis Edward Geist; Clifford Charles Geist; Lloyd Jarvis Geist; and Helen Eunice (Geist) Williams. Clifford was born in Sylvia, Reno County, Kansas. As a young man he hopped a few trains, performed in many rodeos as a calf roper, and then entered the construction business as a roofer. He married Thelma May Shelley on February 20, 1925. They moved around a bit, finally settling in California. Together they had four children: Norman Clifford Geist; Laverne Shirley (Geist) Stedman-Barnes; Ira Walter Geist; and Kenneth Charles Geist.
