Amelia Johns was born 1885 in North Carolina, and quite possibly to one of the Johns of St. Mary's (Auburn), Wake County; although her lineage has not been confirmed as yet.
Amelia married Jefferson Bailey of Virginia about 1910-1911 and the couple resided on Smithfield Street in Raleigh where he worked as a garage mechanic.
The couple would become parents to 5 known children (all daughters): Laurice (c. 1912), Francis (c. 1914), Bernice (1915-1969), Eloise (1919-1943), and Jesse Mae (1921-1953).
Amelia's husband died sometime after 1920. She passed in 1938 at about age 53.
Three of her daughters are buried here.
