COX, Luther Age 96, of Brookville, passed away of natural causes on June 25, 2009. He was born October 26, 1912, on the family farm in Brookville to Wesley & Molly (Mary Osswald) Cox. His marriage to Ruth Strawser on July 1, 1933 was followed by a Belling, a horse and wagon marriage celebration of that era. Luther & Ruth spent 58 wonderful years together until she passed away on Dec. 31, 1991. In addition to his wife & parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Earl & Paul Cox & great-grandson Collin George. Luther was a former treasurer and a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Brookville. Until his stroke in 1976, Luther was known by most of the residents of Brookville through his after-work repair of most of the lawnmowers & small motors in the community. He is survived by two children and spouses: William (Marjorie) Cox, Maumee, OH & Kay (Bob) George, Centerville; 5 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and special friend Karen Bruck & family. To Luther, every person he met was a friend. His happiest hours were spent in sharing memories and helping others. Funeral Services will be held 11:30 AM Tues. June 30 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Brookville, with Pastor Jim Miller officiating. Interment in Arlington Cemetery, Brookville.
