HYDE PARK - Josephine P. Mangold, 90 1/2, a 32 year resident of Hyde Park, formerly of Poughkeepsie, died Wednesday, July 18, 2007 at home peacefully, with her loving family by her side. Mrs. Mangold worked at Wallace & Company Store. She was a 50 year member of the Ladies Auxiliary Victory Lodge of the Italian Center and a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Mrs. Mangold was an avid NY Yankee fan, enjoyed playing cards at the Senior Center, playing bingo and going to the casino and shopping.

Born Nov. 30, 1916 in Brooklyn, she was the daughter of the late Vincent and Josephine Maresca Pisano. On Feb. 16, 1938 in Poughkeepsie, she married Edward L. Mangold. Mr. Mangold died in August 1998. Survivors include her son, Tom and his wife, Michelle Mangold of Dallas, TX; her daughter, Diane and her husband, Warren Young of Albany; her grandchildren, Derek Snyder and Edward and Leslie Mangold; her cousins, Fran Tkazyik, Ed and Anita Ross and Lorraine Maresca; her sister-inlaw, Margot Mangold; her nephew and niece, Harold and Marge Mangold; numerous nieces and nephews; and a good neighbor and friend, Debbie Liveli.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Joan Mangold and her sister and lifelong friend, Mary Tkazyik. Calling hours will be 4-8 p.m., Friday, July 20, at the Michael Torsone Memorial Funeral Home Inc., 218 Mill St., Poughkeepsie. Handicap entrance is located in the rear of the funeral home on Vassar St. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:30 a.m., Saturday, July 21, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Poughkeepsie. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Foundation Inc., 374 Violet Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12601. Josie's husband Ed was one of 6 Mangold children born in Brooklyn, whose father died at 42 yrs building the subway in NYC [after they had moved up to Dutchess County]. His mother a live-in Practical Nurse had to put the youngest in the Poughkeepsie Children's home while the oldest were in Foster Care or with her.
