Bartel Hoekstra, 71, of 2424 Wisconsin Ave., New Holstein, died Saturday at Calumet Memorial Hospital, Chilton. Born in Grogan, Germany, on July 17, 1898, he was the son of Jakob and Anna Devers Hoekstra. He attended schools in Germany and came to this country in 1923. He married Wanda Hansel on March 4, 1926 at New Holstein. Mr. Hoekstra was a resident of the New Holstein area for 47 years, and was a farmer and also was employed as a molder at the John Lauson Co., New Holstein.
Survivors include his widow; three daughters, Mrs. Norbert Barthe of Route 2 Sheboygan, Mrs. Walter Schmidt of New Berlin and Mrs. John L. Henschel of New Holstein, 11 grandchildren,11 grandchildren; one brother, Jakob Hoekstra of Gronau, Germany and one sister, Mrs. Hendrika Ssh*** of Gronau Germany (rest illegible)
