Arthur Magnus Abelin was born June 12, 1885 in Mayfield, Utah, the son of Magnus M. & Johannah Marie Christiansen Abelin. He married Mary Sophia Nielsen, daughter of Niels Christian & Johanna Marie Larsen Bolt Nielsen. Their children included: Florence J., twins Dearl M. & Earl N., Arthur Magnus Jr., Apollo C. and Magnus Lars Abelin.
Arthur died February 4, 1919 from pneumonia caused by influenza.

... The second funeral was that of Arthur Abelin, another victim of influenza, the services being held February 6, his death occuring Tuesday afternoon at 1.30. He was born at Mayfield 33 years ago but has lived in Emery practically all his life. He was married to Sophia Nielsen ten years ago and leaves, besides his widow, 5 small children, also his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Magnus Abelin, a brother, Nels Abelin, and the following sisters: Mrs. Anna Anderson, Mrs. Nora Hansen, Mrs. Matilda Lewis, Mrs. Mary Jensen, Mrs. Willard Peacock Jr. and Miss Blenda Abelin. The entire family is suffering from the dreadful malady at the present time, one child, a little girl of six years, not being expected to live. Arthur possessed a cheerful disposition and his friends were only limited by his acquaintance. He was a highly respected young man, noted for his honesty and integrity, and the entire community sympathizes with the families of those who have had their dear ones taken from them.
