Mrs. Vada Arnett, 83, 202 Marion Branch Road, Elizabethton, died Saturday, April 24, 1999, in the Johnson City Medical Center following a brief illness.
Mrs. Arnett was a native of Avery County, N.C., and had lived most of her life in Carter County. She was a daughter of the late Arthur and Belle McGuire Mann. Mrs. Arnett was a member of Zion Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Archie Arnett, of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Richard Ray and Barbara Arnett, Elizabethton; three grandchildren: Richard Todd Arnett and Mark Shannon Arnett, both of Elizabethton; and Tammy Gardner, Lancaster, S.C.; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

ARNETT -- Funeral services for Mrs. Vada Arnett, 83, 202 Marion Branch Road, Elizabethton, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Sunday, April 25, 1999, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with the Rev. C.W. Snodgrass officiating. Music will be by Melissa Green, soloist, and David Arney, organist. Graveside service and interment will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Kenneth Mann, Jimmy Mann, Jerry Mann, Jack Mann, Clyde Hodge, Leon Perry and Tony McKeehan. Honorary pallbearers will be Bud McKeehan, Ted McKeehan, Terry McKeehan, Bobby McKeehan, Jackie McKeehan, Wayne Gardner, Joe Emmert, Bobby Rose, Eddie Kinser, Allen Kinser and Danny Kinser. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Monday to go to the cemetery. The family will receive friends in the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Sunday. Friends may call at the residence of Richard Arnett, 206 Marion Branch Road, Elizabethton, at anytime. Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
