Mrs. A. W. Wise, Special to the State
Chester, April 16 - Mrs. Alice Wilks Wise, wife of A. W. Wise, judge of probate, passed away Sunday afternoon at her home on Church Street, after an illness of three weeks. The funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at Calvary Baptist Church at 2 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. J. H. Yarborough. Interment was in the Calvary graveyard. Mrs. Wise was 71 years of age and is survived by her husband and the following children: Mrs. H. C. Wilks, Miss Mary Wise and Mrs. James W. Knox of Chester, Mrs. R. L. Douglas of Rodman, A. C. Wise of Greenwood and Miss Wessie Wise of Wilmington, N. C. Also by two brothers Judge Wesley Wilks of Wilksburg and B. F. Wilks of Chester, R. F. D. Mrs. Wise was an active member of the Baptist Church.
