Viola Rutherford
Viola Rutherford, 90, of Nebo, NC passed away Thursday, July 2, 2009 at McDowell Hospital.
She was born August 26, 1918 in McDowell County, NC to the late Thomas & Maggie Rutherford.
Ms. Rutherford was a member of St. John's AME Church where she held many offices.
In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Grafton Rutherford.
Surviving are one nephew, whom she raised as her son, Juan Tate; two sisters, Annie Mae Palmer and Virginia Wallace; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, July 5, 2009 at St. John's AME Church with Rev. Debora Smith officiating.
Burial will follow at St. John's AME Zion Church Cemetery. Ms. Rutherford will lie in state one hour prior to the service at the church
