Sonny was born October 2, 1936, in Clinton, Mo., the son of Cecil Dee Ryles and Margaret Ethel Hart. He was married to Eunice (Brooks) Ryles and she preceded him in death. On February 14, 1992, in Miami, Oklahoma, he married Donna Gail Voss who survives of the home in Deepwater.
Sonny worked as an air-conditioning mechanic for Chandler Auto, Chandler, Arizona, for 7 years, retiring in 1991. He also farmed, raising cattle and row crops, and with his brother-in-law, Joe Weter, had a well-drilling business in the Benton County area for a number of years. He had also owned and operated a restaurant in Preston, Mo., from 1980-1984. Sonny was a member of the Cedar Grove Baptist Church, Warsaw, Mo., and Brothers of the Third Wheel, Ava, Mo.
He always enjoyed building the trikes and going on the trike trips with his Back Forty Outlaw brothers, especially the trips to the big rally in Sturgis, South Dakota, and the "riding free on three."
His other primary enjoyment came from his new found thrill of bass fishing on Falcon Lake at his winter home in Zapata, Texas. He got a really big kick out of taking his dog, Jackie, fishing with him, where Jackie had to give a brief chew on each fish that came into the boat. While in Zapata, he made many new friends from all across the country who also came to Zapata to enjoy the warmth and fishing camaraderie.
In addition to his wife Donna, survivors include 5 daughters, Brenda Bandy of Granbury, Tx., Carol Angel of Deepwater, Mo., Cheryl Lowry of Weatherford, Tx., Dana Candler of Independence, Mo., and Tracey Jeffrey of Clinton, Mo.; 14 grandchildren, Tammy, Jeffery and Amanda Bandy, Eric Goth, Stacy Ford, Stephanie Neuenschwander, Joedie Delozier, Amy Murphy, McKayla Lowry, Randy Ryles, Anna Tucker, Cody Jeffrey and Erin Neuenschwander; 18 great-grandchildren, Kyle and Tyler Bandy, Meagan Neal, Haley and Savanna Bandy, Autumn and Trenton Ford, John and Emily Neuenschwander, Derrick Simpson, Trisha McGee, Matthew and Paris Murphy, Chassidy, Joslyn and Logan Ryles, and Alyssa and Laruen Tucker; 2 sisters, Carrol Smith of Higginsville, Mo., and Barbara Cutler of Osceola, Mo.; 2 brothers, Rick Ryles and Basil Ryles both of Clinton, Mo.; a daughter-in-law, Debbie Stephens of Clinton, Mo.; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
