Mrs. Viola Cox, 76, died this morning at 8:06 o'clock at the Memorial Hospital in Gulfport. She was born in Long Beach on June 16, 1886, and was a lifetime resident of the Coast. She resided at 112 East 2nd St., Long Beach, and was a member of the Long Beach Methodist Church. In former years, Mrs. Cox was a nurse. She is survived by two daughters, Mr. H. J. Baker and Mrs. E. H. Alexander, both of Long Beach; one step-daughter, Mrs. Pauline DeAngelo, Gulfport; two sons, Alfred Cox, Biloxi, and George Cox of Fairborn, Ohio; one step-son; Peter Cox, Pass Christian; one brother, Herbert H. Allen, Nashville, Tenn.; two sisters, Mrs. Matilda Alexander, Gulfport, and Mrs. Bessie Hartsell of Long Beach; 19 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren. The body will be moved to the Long Beach Riemann Funeral Home at 4 o'clock Friday afternoon and services will be held from the chapel at 4 o'clock Saturday afternoon. The Rev. Rex Loftin, pastor of Long Beach Methodist Church, will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Clyde Thompson, retired. Interment will be in Allen Cemetery.
