Vida Broadbent Wentz M.D., born December 21, 1903 passed away June 17, 2001 at age 97.

Born in Charleston and raised in Heber, Utah, she lived in Chicago, IL, from 1925 to 1999 before moving to Lansing, MI in 1999.

Following under graduate work at Brigham Young University, Mrs. Wentz earned a master's degree and did doctoral work in child development at the University of Chicago. A 1930's graduate of the University of Chicago Medical School, Mrs. Wentz practiced pediatrics in Chicago from 1940-1991.

She was the first woman president of the medical and dental staff of Children's Memorial Hospital. for varying periods in a 50 plus year medical career, she taught at the Northwestern University Medical School, was on the staffs of Children's Memorial Hospital and Wesley Memorial Hospital, and also practiced in the Calumet City Health Center Infant Clinic and more recently in Chicago's Medical School clinics prior to retirement.

Mrs. Wentz had served as president of the Chicago Home for the Friendless, and enjoyed affiliations with the Art Institute of Chicago, Oriental Institute, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Natural History Museum, Mid-America Club and Fortnightly Club.

She was preceded in death by devoted husband Peter Leland Wentz, a native of Prove, UT and attorney and early partner of the Chicago-based law firm of Hopkins & Sutter.

She is survived by: daughters Carol Wentz, Crete, IL and Helen Wentz, Lansing, MI; grandchildren David L. Morris, Chicago, IL, James T. Morris, Los Angeles, CA and Catherine E. Morris, Chicago, IL; and many relations in the Provo and greater Salt Lake City, UT area.

Visitation at the Berg Mortuary in Provo, July 14th at 12 noon, followed by interment at Provo cemetery.
