Daughter of James Merrill.

Sarah Merrill was born in July 1782. She wed Moses Butterfield (son of Samuel and Hannah Chandler Butterfield) in June 1801.

Moses and Sarah (Merrill) Butterfield had ten children together and raised their family in Farmington, Maine.

At the time of her death, Sarah (Merrill) Butterfield was 84 years, 2 months old.

Moses Butterfield settled on the lot first taken up by his father, and there, passed his life. In 1832, he was elected town treasurer, and served the town as representative to the legislature, in 1834.

He md., June 14, 1801, Sarah Merrill, who was b. 1782, and d. Sept. 26, 1866.

Mr. Butterfield d. Sept. 19, 1866.

Eleven children --

1. Caleb, b. June 12, 1802. [NB: Does not say what became of him.]

2. Mary, b. March 13, 1804; d. Nov 11, 1820.
