Frank A. Smith Sr., 85, of Mansura, Louisiana, and formerly of Brookhaven, died Jan. 12, 2015, in Mansura.Visitation is 11 a.m. Friday at Riverwood Family Funeral Service in Brookhaven until services there at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Summit.
Mr. Smith was born July 15, 1929, the son of Jake and Viola Smith.
He was a World War II veteran, serving in the Navy and Army. He retired after 55 years with Local Union 798 as a pipeline welder.
He also was a 32nd Degree Mason and Shriner.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Tera Cockerham, Lucille Williamson, Lois Boyd and Inez Russell; and three brothers, J.W. "Duck" Smith, Carey Smith and Bill "Leroy" Smith.
Survivors include his wife, Bernice Lemoine Smith; two sons, Frank A. Smith Jr. and wife Sue Fortenberry Smith of Huntersville, North Carolina, and Michael T. Smith and wife Demple Britt Smith of Hattiesburg; a stepson, Stanley P. Lemoine and wife Tara; two stepdaughters, Yvonne L. Murphy and husband Michael, and Denise L. Bordelon and husband Keith; two brothers, Claude and Clifford Smith; two sisters, Francis Roberts and Helen Boyd; his grandchildren, Terri Smith Merklein, Joel F. Smith of Huntersville, Brandi Smith Henderson and Brittany Smith Read of Hattiesburg; and three step-grandchildren, Dustin Paul Lemoine, and Rochelle Scallon and Derek Bordelon of Louisiana.
