According to the Free Lance Star, Nollie and her neice, Elsie Wingfield were struck by a truck driven by a Mr. Carneal. This happened on the 400 block of Prince Edward Street in Fredericksburg, VA. The driver swerved to miss a car, ran up on the sidewalk and hit the women. The neice escaped injury, but Nollie died from injuries. Her grave is in the Brooks family cemetary in Brokenburg.
