Shirley Kay Petersen, 66 of Dix, Neb. died at her home on Saturday, June 7, 2003. Funeral Services were June 11 at the First English Lutheran Church. Pastor Dwayne Hunzeker officiated. Burial was in the Dix Rural Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to First English Lutheran Church or the Dix CIA. Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

She was born in Hebron on July 15, 1936 to Fred Roy and Emma Katherine (Dirks) Beanblossom. She attended school at Carleton High School where she graduated in 1953, she then moved to Potter and worked for the Potter State Bank, the Potter Sundry, as well as the Coop Elevators in Potter, Dix, and Kimball. She also worked for the ASCS office in Kimball, retiring in 1993.

She and Dennis Petersen were married on October 8, 1976 in Sidney. They lived in Potter and Dix moving to Dix in 1984. She was a member of First English Lutheran Church, the WELCA of First English and the Dix Garden Club.

She is survived by her husband, Dennis, two daughters Deb and husband Don Forbes of Sterling, CO and Cindy and husband Lee Stewart of Sidney. Sisters Loretta Maxine McKay of Lincoln, Doris Lucille Skinner of Hastings, and Wauneta May Weichel of Fairbury, one brother Fred Leroy Beanblossom of Doniphan. Grandchildren, Sarina Holly Usher and her fiancÈe Mike McNally, and Jessica Lee Stewart all of Sidney, Matthew David Thies and B.J. Forbes both of Sterling, CO, and one Great Grand Child Austin Lee Usher of Sidney.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Ida Lodema Busch and Roma Faye Leggett.
