James L. Lensmeyer, 60, of Waverly, Iowa, died on Sunday, July 19, 2009 at the University of Iowa Hospitals, Iowa City, Iowa.

James was born on January 22, 1949 in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, the son of Frank and Margaret (Falvey) Lensmeyer. He attended Reedsville High School in Reedsville, Wisconsin and graduated in 1967. He served in the Army Reserves. He worked construction and farmed in Wisconsin. Jim came to Waverly in 1976. He started with the Waverly Fire Department in 1976 and was the last full time fireman until 1992. Jim also established Lensmeyer Roofing during this time. He retired from roofing in 2005. He was married to Cheryl Mangin in 1967 in Manitowoc, County, Wisconsin and they were later divorced. He was united in marriage to Rose Ackerman in 1981 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua and they were later divorced.

He is survived by his fiancé, Diane Andersen of Waverly, Iowa; one daughter, Jill (Brian) of Reedsville, Wisconsin and one son, Joseph Lensmeyer of Waverly, Iowa; four grandchildren, Dylan Wolfe, Kayla Brey, C. J. Lensmeyer and Jamie Lensmeyer; sister, Lois Lensmeyer of Depere, Wisconsin; brother, Jeff (Ruth) Lensmeyer of Manitowoc, Wisconsin; sister, Lynnette (Ric) Walt of Whitelaw, Wisconsin; his nieces and nephews and many special friends; James is also survived by Diane's children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a daughter, Christine in 1996.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2009 at 2:00 pm at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly. Graveside Services will be held on Saturday at 1:00 pm in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Kellnersville, Wisconsin. There will also be a visitation on Saturday at Jens-Reinbold-Pfeffer Funeral Home in Kellnersville from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. Memorials may be directed to the family.
