Don L. Fitch Bice, Col. USAF Retired 1978, passed away on June 21, 2009, and entered eternal rest. He was born on April 27, 1931 in Sulphur Rock, Arkansas to Agnes and Ewing Bice.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Charline Bice, of Batesville; Son: Calvin Don Bice, M.D. of Little Rock; daughter-in-law, Eva Maria Bice of Jonesboro; granddaughter: Courtney Michelle Bice of Denver, Colorado. He is also survived by his brothers, William N. Bice and wife, Bernice of Ozark, Arkansas and Terry D. Bice and wife, Kathy of Phoenix, Arizona; sister, Marie Mahon and husband, Keith of Vero Beach, Florida; nephews: Douglas Bice and wife, Sue of Fort Smith, Terry Edward Bice of Des Arc, Pat Mahon and Mike Mahon of Vero Beach, Florida and Travis D. Bice and wife Mari of Phoenix, Arizona; nieces: Shirley Carpenter of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Jean Maier and husband, Jerry of Sherwood, Becky Greenwood of Kempner, Texas, Anne Bonner of Judsonia, and Cathy Bradley of Little Rock.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Agnes and Ewing Bice and two brothers, Bernard R. Bice and E. Herschel Bice.

Col. Bice had a long and distinguished career in the U. S. Air Force spanning 30 years and included tours in the Korean and Vietnam conflicts, headquarters' assignments in the United State Air Forces Europe, headquarters United States Air Force, the Pentagon; Air Forces Korea; and United Nation Command Korea. He had many other service assignments worldwide. His career included maintenance on the first jet in the U. S. Military arsenal through the Titan and Minutemen Missiles. Col. Bice received multiple awards and decorations including the Purple Heart, Silver Star, and two Bronze Stars, along with a Legion of Merit.

Funeral services will be Friday, July 24 at visitation at 9:00 a.m. with services at 11:00 a.m. at Roller-Crouch Funeral Home, 510 E. College Avenue in Batesville with Bro. Bob Harris and Tony Hammack officiating.

Burial will follow the services at Oaklawn Cemetery with full military honors.

Pallbearers are Travis Bice, James Odell, Terry Edward Bice, Jeff Joyner, Dennis Wood and Tommy Wood. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Robert Walton of Batesville, Jeff Showalter of Batesville, Doctors Richard Bentley, William Culp, Issam Makhoul, Alison Acott, Yara Robertson, and Phillip Kenny, all of the UAMS.

Grateful appreciation to the entire nursing staff and particularly Allison, Gina and Cathy of the F-4 Unit.
