Born in Walkerton, Brant Twp., Bruce Co, Ontario, Vina Benson was the daughter of Irish immigrants Richard Benson (1810-27 Aug 1895) and his third wife Mary Anne Marshall (Oct 1825-04 Aug 1894) whom he married probably in Chinguacousy, Peel, Ontario. For a time, her family homsteaded in Pembina, Dakota Territory, until her parents removed to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. She married Cyrus Sing Lloyd, son of John and Margaret (Conmee) Lloyd of Meaford, County Grey, Ontario. Lavina was his first wife, and she died in complications with the birth of her third child. Cyrus would go on to marry 3 times and have 12 children in all. The oldest 3 were Lavina's: 1. Marshall Wesley Lloyd (b. 29 Oct 1889 in Cavelier, Pembina, Dakota Territory, USA - d. 05 Nov 1968 Toledo, Lucas, OH, USA) who married 19 Jan 1915 in Toledo, Rachael Marie Navarre; 2. Edith Pearl Lloyd (b. 28 Jan 1891 Calgary, Alberta, CAN d. 18 Oct 1962 Lethbridge, Alberta, CAN) who married 03 Jan 1912 in Meaford, County Grey, Ontario, CAN William Herbert Ripley; 3. William John Lloyd (b. 24 Oct 1892 Edmonton, Alberta, CAN - d. 20 Apr 1956 Los Angeles, CA, USA) who married 01 Aug 1915 in Trenton, Hastings, Ontario, CAN Florence Edwidge Allore.
