"AT REST"
"All that was mortal of the late Mrs. J. R. Kelly of Gulfport, was laid to rest in our city cemetery yesterday, the Rev. H. W. Vanhook conducting the services at the grave. The death of Mrs. Kelly is made more sad from the fact that she leaves an infant daughter only about two weeks old who will never know the care of her mother nor realize in her childhood the love and affection which only a mother can bestow upon her loved ones. The high esteem in which Mrs. Kelly was held by her neighbors and acquaintances was evidenced by the large number of Gulfport ladies and gentlemen who accompanied her remains to this city and witnessed the last sad rites at the grave. Mrs. Kelly was Miss Lillian Platt, and she was wedded to Mr. Kelly at Gulfport, on the 31st day of October, 1900, and the sadness of their parting after so short a period is not susceptible of portrayal by word or pen. The sympathy of the large number of friends of Mr. Kelly in this city, as well as in Gulfport and elsewhere, goes out to him in this season of sorrow, and trust that he will be soothed and sustained by Him 'who doeth all things well'".
