At the time of Marlene's birth, her father Jesse, was 54 years old, working as a laborer. He passed away in 1951 when Marlene was 14 years old.
In 1954 at age 17, Marlene married Jefferson David Powers. Jefferson was the brother of Earl Powers who married Marlene's sister, Voncile. Later that same year, Marlene gave birth to her first child, a daughter, Geraldine. She had a second daughter Janice and then a set of twins, named Pamela and Paula. Sadly Marlene's first born daughter, Geraldine died at 7 years old in 1962.
Marlene's husband Jefferson, worked for Moody Farms in North Fort Myers. After 27 years of marriage, Marlene's beloved husband died at age 67. Marlene lived the rest of her life in North Fort Myers. She died on September 25, 2003 at age 65. Cause of Death: Cancer. She is dearly loved and missed by all who knew her.
Marlene was laid to rest in Fort Myers Cemetery where her daughter Geraldine was buried 41 years earlier. Her husband was also buried in the same cemetery.
