Irene Lubbock was born on 30 March 1886.She was the daughter of John Lubbock, 1st Baron Avebury and Alice Augusta Laurentia Lane Fox-Pitt.She married Sir Edward Henry Pelham, son of Professor Henry Francis Pelham and Laura Priscilla Buxton, on 5 December 1905.She died on 14 February 1961 at age 74.
