Casualty of the Great War, The Hon. Harold Fox Pitt Lubbock, (father of the 3rd Baron Avebury), was a Lieutenant in the 2nd Bn. Grenadier Guards. He was 29 and a son of the late John Lubbock, 1st Baron Avebury and Lady Alice his wife, of Kingsgate Castle, Kent. He left a widow, Dorothy C. Lubbock, of High Elms, Farnborough, Kent. He also served in Gallipoli and Palestine as a Captain in the West Kent Yeomanry.

His brother, Captain, The Hon. Eric Fox Pitt Lubbock, MC also fell. He was killed in aerial combat, aged 23 on 11th March 1917 whilst serving in the Royal Flying Corps, 45th Sqdn. and was laid to rest in LIJSSENTHOEK MILITARY CEMETERY,Grave Reference: X. A. 13.
