He was the son of Abner Blodgett and his wife Beulah/Bulah Haynes. Massachusetts town birth records 1620-1850, records his birth on 28 Jan 1760 in Brimfield. The DAR gives his birth year as 1764 in Brimfield. The DAR has his death after 1 Nov 1823. Some trees show he died 6 Jan 1825, but I have found no sources to back up this date.

Brimfield, at the time of his birth was in *Hampshire County, Massachusetts. He was a Private in the Revolutionary War serving under Capt. Carpenter, Browning Sherman; and Cols. Murray and Gideon. He married Sibyl Moses Roberts May 8, 1798.

Known children of Ephraim and Sibyl Moses (Roberts) Blodgett were:

1. Bulah Blodgett who married Henry Smith.

2. Achsah Blodgett who married Rodney Smith.

3. Lucretia Blodgett who married Aaron Jerome Ball.

*Hampden County was founded in 1812, before that time Brimfield was in Hampshire Co.A Third generation American and just 15 years old when Ephraim Blodgett enlisted for service in the Revolutionary War for the fist time in 1779 under Capt. John Carpenter's Company, for one month and nine days. Was detached for three months with "Gards" at Springfield. Then served under Capt. Browning's Company, Col.Seth Murray's Hampshire County Regiment in July 1780 until October 11th 1780. Then served under Capt. John Sherman's Company, Col. Gideon Burt's Regiment until June 16th, 1782 against insurgents at Springfield, Mass.
After returning home, Ephraim, still being a young man of 18 years was happy to reunite with his father, mother and siblings. It wasn't until 1798 at the age of 33 did he joins hands and marry Sybil Moses Roberts on May the 8th in Dayton, Chautauqua County, New York. Together they had eighteen children. Although we have confirmed their dates of birth, research continues for the dates of their deaths.
