William Raymond Amos, Sr., 72, died peacefully in his sleep Saturday May 29, 2004 in Vernon.

He was born in the old Whiteriver Indian Hospital, April 15, 1932, to Paul and Merintha Amos. William was a graduate of McNary High School in the class of 1950. In September of that same year, he married his wife Edith, who was a nurse at the Whiteriver Hospital. They resided with their family in Whiteriver their entire married life of 38 years until her death Feb. 28, 1988. William was a member of the White Mountain Apache Tribe and for 32 years built and maintained reservation roads for the B.I.A.

William is survived by four children, Burry, Joanne, Fred, and Minnie; 12 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; brothers, George, Melvin, Paul; sisters, Gertrude, Ellison, and Delta Brewer; and his special nephew Jimmy Gilbert who was like a brother to him.

Funeral services were held Saturday June 5, at the Whiteriver Lutheran Church. Interment will be in the Whiteriver Cemetery
