He joined Washington University in St Louis, MO, where he had a distingished career as a teacher and physician. He was a Captain in the medical corps during World War II. After the War, he returned to St Louis to resume his medical practice and teaching.
He returned to Galveston in 1955, and to the John Sealy Hospital in Galveston. Dr Bromberg died in 1985, leaving a legacy in Charitable Trust Fund, which endowed the Dr Leon Bromberg Professorship for Excellence in Teaching in 2001.
He never married and had one sister, Estelle Bromberg.
